Tony Ferguson believes the eye poke he suffered at UFC 291 was intentional.
‘El Cucuy’ slumped to his sixth consecutive loss when Bobby Green locked up an arm triangle choke and put him to sleep in the third round of their fight on Saturday night.
However, the former interim lightweight champion started well and even dropped his opponent before being on the receiving end of a nasty eye poke.
After a period of recovery, Ferguson kept fighting but struggled as Green started to find his boxing range and dominate on the floor before picking up his first submission win since 2013.
Post-fight, the faded legend took to Instagram to reflect on his latest defeat and throw a serious accusation at Green following their clash in Salt Lake City.
“Walked into the Delta🏟️Center to show the world I was back on track 💯 The preparation for this fight was exceptional & it was one of the best⛰️camps I’ve had,” Ferguson wrote alongside fan footage from the fight.

“As the fight began, I was in the🔥Xone, flowing & feeling confident 🦹♂️ Bobby knew the direction of the fight & I believe he knew what he was doing when he🫵poked my👁️eye.
"He has a big History of moves like this 🎓 It significantly impaired my vision, making it difficult to see clearly out of my eye.
“Despite this eye poke I never considered stopping the fight 👎 Although the👨⚕️doc wanted too. Throughout my career, I’ve always pushed through challenges & never given up 💯 This time was no different.”
Ferguson has no intention of retiring and revealed his plan is to heal up before returning to the Octagon amid calls for him to end his legendary UFC run.
