Run: Kmart selling expensive puffer vests for $29, shoppers obsessed

With prices continuing to rise on just about everything, it seems there’s one store shoppers can depend on to keep its products affordable – Kmart.

Shoppers have been sharing their bargain finds at the budget retailer in droves on social media recently, sharing “handy” kitchen items with small price tags, affordable wardrobe essentials and amazing DIY “hacks” that keep costs down.

One new discovery in Kmart stores has sent shoppers into a spin is the brand’s “Oversized Puffer Vest” in its new active range.

The $29 garment only hit shelves across the country recently but it is already proving popular, with one woman telling Aussies to “run to Kmart” to snag it.

“They have the cutest puffer vests, I’m obsessed,” TikTok user @tinayahhhhhhh said.

“They’re perfect for winter.”

Another TikTok user Chelsea Williamson also praised the new addition, sharing a video trying one on in store, stating: “Kmart is in a major fashion slay era.”

Many were quick to respond to the videos, labelling the item, which comes in white and lilac, “cute”.

“OMG we need the purple,” one said, tagging their friend.

“We should’ve gone today,” another wrote, also commenting to a mate.

As one simply declared: “Need.”

The puffer vest, which is a spin on the popular puffer jacket without arms, can retail for more than $370 with other brands, something one shopper pointed out made the Kmart version a “steal”.

Frances Catts, Kmart’s Active Buyer, told news.com.au the puffer vests were only just hitting stores but were already proving popular.

“There’s lots of love for this style on TikTok and Instagram already – customers cannot believe the price,” she said.

“It’s incredible value at $29, and contains 80 percent recycled polyester down (internal fill)

“Wear tran seasonally now over our seam free shorts and tanks, or over the top of our oversized youth jogger and hoodie for a laid back, cosy vibe as the weather becomes cooler.”

It comes after an Aussie fashion stylist shared a pair of “luxe” looking pants from Kmart that are priced at just $20.

Sydney blogger Dani Katralis, known as @luxeandlemonade on social media, found a new addition to the discount store’s fashion line, stating she considered not sharing them because they’re so good.

However, in a video showing off Kmart’s new front split hem pants – which don’t appear to be online yet – Ms Katralis said she couldn’t keep them from bargain lovers.

“I thought about not posting these $20 pants from Kmart,” she said.

“But I could never do that to you.

“Ribbed texture and high-waisted, they’re perfect for dressing up or down. But hurry, they’ll sell out fast.”

In the clip, which has been viewed over 36,000 times on Instagram and 3000 times on TikTok, the fashionista showed how she styled the pants.

Teaming them with a simple white tank and chunky trainers for the day, she switched it up halfway through with a stripped jumper and trench coat.

“We don’t gatekeep here,” she captioned the video.

People were quick to flood the comments section, describing the outfit as “luxe” and “chic”.

“OMG need,” one said.

“Hanging to get some of these,” another wrote.

And someone else said: “Super luxe and chic outfit.”

Split front pants have soared in popularity in recent months, with other brands charging as much as $280 for a pair.

Catherine Wringe, a womenswear buyer at Kmart, told news.com.au the item “just hit stores over the last week and is off to a flying start”.

“Even though this style is very new for us, we are seeing a lot of love on social media with some great outfitting being shared,” she continued.
