Calum Scott Releases New Single 'You Are The Reason'
Last year Calum Scott took over the charts with his cover of Robyn’s ‘Dancing On My Own’. But in 2017 he’s doing it on his own terms with new single ‘You Are The Reason’ just being released.
The piano-led track was written by Scott and Rookies and produced by Fraser T Smith (Ellie Goulding, Adele). From the moment Calum’s recognisable, sincere vocals are introduced you become completely engrossed in the track. The emotionally powerful lyrics are open to interpretation with one concept that the track is about being about someone being there to pull you through the rough times and unconditional love. Calum explained, “I wrote this song to say thank you to those special people who make our lives better, simply because they’re in it.” The arrangement of this track maintains the personal, heartfelt vibe of this track through the use of melodic backing vocals allowing the heartstrings to be tugged. We absolutely love this track and we’re sure you will too!
Alongside the release of ‘You Are The Reason’, Calum Scott has unveiled a video of him performing the track with 1 Mic 1 Take live from Abbey Road which can be seen above. This video concept is mesmerizing with the black and white footage allowing all focus to be on the beautiful vocal tones and smooth musical accompaniment. Simple truly is best and this video is proof of this.
With his cover of Robyn’s ‘Dancing On My Own’ becoming the best selling UK single of 2016 by a British Solo Artist and seeing him nominated for a Brit Award for Best Single, the success followed with second single original track ‘Rhythm Inside’ gaining over 24 million worldwide streams. Next on the cards in Spring 2018 is his debut album released via Virgin EMI. It looks like 2018 is set to already be very exciting for Calum Scott and we’re looking forward to seeing what’s to come!
